A New orleans native, lyndon is known for his innovative stop motion work and unique storytelling artform

The world’s first Sportrait was conceived in New Orleans, Louisiana in the bedroom of eleven-year-old Lyndon Barrois. An accomplished artist, Award-winning Director, Animator, and Visual Effects Pro, Lyndon J. Barrois, Sr. is the only person on the planet creating humanistic sculptures from meticulously hand-shaped Wrigley Chewing Gum wrappers and then bringing to life some of the greatest moments in sports history and portraits of life.

A native of New Orleans, Lyndon has played pivotal roles in creating groundbreaking visual effects for critically-acclaimed feature films like “The Matrix Trilogy”, “Happy Feet”, “Tree of Life”, and “The Thing”, for which he received a Visual Effects Society Award nomination.

Since 1990, Lyndon’s work has been displayed in the halls of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! After officials from the museum of the bizarre and amazing saw an NBC Today Show segment highlighting his wondrous work, Ripley’s curators purchased 15 original Sportraits, mostly from his Super Bowl XXIV series. In addition, his work has caught the attention of several art collectors and galleries around the world, including the Ripley’s Museum in Los Angeles where his work is part of its permanent collection.

What began as a childhood hobby of reusing his mom’s discarded gum wrappers has since evolved into a fresh innovation in the world of art and animation. Each miniature figure, measuring no more than one-inch in height, is painstakingly created by hand, painted, and then brought to life through thousands of carefully assembled stop motion frames.

It’s A Wrapper! is a full circle of Lyndon’s artistry with its deep roots in socially and culturally driven sculptures and stories. In 2018, he completed three significant works, highlighting the World Cup for the Pérez Museum in Miami, author and journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates, and heavyweight champion Jack Johnson in “Prizefighter”, for which he received critical acclaim from several film festivals. In 2019 he produced a music video portrait of the young blues phenom Kingfish, and in 2020 debuted the socially conscious film “For... Freedom” at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

His latest piece, the Covid Chess Set, is a portrait of America in 2020. It meticulously depicts the country’s political divide through the coronavirus crisis and racial civil unrests that grips the nation. Thirty-two handcrafted players, encased in test tubes, are strategically laid out on a blue state vs. red state chess board. The frontline and essential workers set to battle the incompetent and greedy Trump administration and enablers.
